CSC Roadmap Out of Lockdown - Step 2

Published 12:51 on 8 Apr 2021

The Government have announced that they are progressing to Step 2 on the Roadmap from Monday 12th April 2021.

The changes that will apply at Coniston Sailing Club from then are:

  • Entry into the clubhouse will be via the North side door and exit via the kitchen door (if you have been in kitchen) or South door.
  • The kitchen may be used by one household at a time for washing up only.
  • The fridges may be used provided food is kept in sealed boxes with your name on it.
  • The toilets remain open but showers and changing rooms are closed.
  • The jetty can be used as normal although members are recommended to moor alternate stern/bow.
  • Cruiser owners may sleep on board their boats, using the jetty in line with the Operating Policy.
  • Organised racing will commence on Wednesday 14th April.
  • Cruiser launch is open for booking on Saturday 24th April - if more than 15 bookings are required, Sunday 25th April will be opened.
  • You may bring guests with you to the Club. Temporary membership ticket should be purchased online following the Membership Policy.
  • Every member should Book A Slot for themselves, other members, and their guests every day they visit the club.
  • The safety boats are in use for organised club racing - see below re the use of the Dory for mooring maintenance.

Use of Dory for Mooring Maintenance

The Dory may be used for basic mooring maintenance e.g. to check, repair or attach new warps, pick-up or mooring buoys. Any other maintenance to the ground tackle or chain should be arranged via the Rawdon-Smith Trust Lake Warden and Martin Knowles at mkmoorings@outlook.com.

The use of the Dory is as per the Safety Boat Risk Assessment (see website). This includes the following:

  • The Dory will be kept under the balcony to prevent any unauthorised access to the boathouse via the downstairs area.
  • The boat must be crewed by 2 people at all times.
  • A CSC authorised person must be in the boat.
  • Approval to use should be gained from a member of the Management Committee.
  • The boat should be cleaned before and after use with all keys and petrol returned to the relevant place.

Roadmap & Risk Assessments

These will be updated where required and stored on the website. Every member is responsible for ensuring they, and any guests, understand and follow these at all times.

There will be supplies of hand sanitiser and cleaning products available but it is recommended that you bring your own in case supplies have run out. If so, please notify a member of the Management Committee so they can be replenished.

Another Step Forward

The 12th April is another positive step forward along the roadmap. Please remember, we will open what we can, when we can but until then, please follow all the procedures in place which should hopefully assist in the transition to the next step in May.

See you all soon.
