Boat storage for 2021

Published 10:59 on 19 Mar 2021

Following the communication issued on 25th February, the Covid Committee continue to work on the risk assessments for opening the club in line with the Government roadmap. We are expecting further information from Sport England, via the RYA, early next week and will issue our own roadmap prior to the 29th March.

This e-mail includes specific details regarding boats in the car park, launching cruisers and bringing your boats onto the dinghy park, foreshore and racks.

Boats on the Car Park

The normal Good Friday deadline for emptying the car park of all boats has been extended. Members should make every attempt to move their boats from the car park by the end of May, thus enabling sufficient space for parking cars.

It is possible that some members may not be able to comply with this request and those members are asked to contact myself at to request an extension to the end of June or in a very small number of cases longer.

The Club will arrange cruiser launching for the weekend of 24th & 25th April - tickets will go on sale following the next step on the roadmap on 29th March.

Dinghy Park, Racks & Foreshore

Boats can be moved onto the dinghy park, foreshore and racks from 29th March 2021. Please take the time to look at your portal to see your allocated spaces - this is not guaranteed to be the same as last year. I will also ensure that there will be a list up on the side of the race hut as soon as possible.

Please ensure that all boats, trailers left in the car park, kayaks and tenders are identifiable to you by attaching a tag with your member number on it - I will leave a box with tags inside the South door where I am aware new ones are needed. If you need one and there isn't one there then drop me a mail.

Canadian Canoe owners - your space may have been moved to one of the Topper Racks - please ensure you check as it is important that everyone places their craft in the allocated space.

NB - in a very small number of cases there may be a boat that had to be left on the dinghy park over winter in your space. I will identify these as soon as I can access the club grounds and contact the member concerned, but if you do encounter this then please let me know, and in the short term (during April) leave your boat in space 1,2 or 3. (but make sure you tell me!)

Cruiser Jetty

The cruiser jetty will open on 29th March to enable members to use the mast support system and pick up or drop off crew. Maximum of 4 boats at any one time.

Further details will be included in the Roadmap issued next week.

Book A Slot

The requirement to Book A Slot when you visit the club will remain in place until further notice.

Look out for the roadmap next week but if anybody has any questions regarding the above please do not hesitate to contact me - preferably by e-mail so I can keep track of enquiries and ensure that the correct information is issued.

Remember Facebook is a great tool for social interaction and sharing general sailing information but the best route to find up to date information about the Club is via the Operating procedures on the website and/or direct queries to myself or another member of the Committee.
