Covid-19 - Roadmap out of Lockdown

Covid-19 - Roadmap out of Lockdown

From 8th March, some people in England will see restrictions start to lift and the government's four-step roadmap offer a route back to a more normal life.
However, for Coniston Sailing Club, there is no change to the current lockdown conditions (all areas closed) until 29th March.
This post outlines some initial changes and as we receive more detailed RYA and Government guidelines, we will work together to build and share our detailed plan that meets the needs and constraints of Coniston Sailing Club to achieve a fully open state on 21st June 2021.

Step 1 - 8th & 29th March
8th March - all club grounds remain closed. If you do need to visit your boat for essential maintenance then please remember to contact Mike Curtin or Judy Leese and, if authority granted, Book A Slot via your portal.
29th March - Outdoor sports facilities can open and outdoor events organised. Rule of 6 and 2 household rules apply outdoors. Minimise travel and no overnight stays.

Key Points to Note

Easter Cocktail party cancelled
No temporary members to be brought to the Club.
The cruiser launch days have been postponed until after the 12th April, New dates will be confirmed as soon as possible. Members who can comply with the rules to minimise travel may launch their own boats and may use the jetty for mast raising only. Restrictions on number of boats on the jetty will apply and no boats should be left overnight.
Dinghies and kayaks may be brought on site (check your dinghy park space number).
The National Trust will be advised re boats remaining on the car park until after Good Friday.
There will be no organised club activity and, whilst you are allowed to sail, members are reminded there will be no safety cover available and should take account of the conditions and their own abilities prior to making a decision, and if they do sail, they do so at their own risk.
The clubhouse remains closed other than the one emergency toilet.

Step 2 - 12th April

Outdoor hospitality, overnight stays, no indoor household mixing

Key Points to Note

The jetty may be used as per the operating policy, including overnight stays but subject to maximum number of boats as per 2020.
The clubhouse one way system will be reintroduced, with toilets and washing up facilities and kitchen in use provided only one household occupies these areas at any one time.
The bar, lounge and balcony remain closed.
Club racing will be organised from the middle of the month (current plan is Wednesday 14th April) and the safety boats in use. Sailing conditions will apply as per 2020.
Members may bring guests by purchasing temporary member tickets online.

Step 3 - 17th May

Indoor hospitality, organised indoor sports, 30 people outdoors, Rule of 6 or 2 households indoors

Key Points to Note

The May Regatta is cancelled.
Some training may commence.
The bar will open subject to restrictions on numbers and authorised members to serve behind bar.
Member duties begin.

Step 4 - June 21st

Normal service resumes.
Gondola provisionally booked for Saturday 7th August.

Personal Responsibility

The above is an outline only, full risk assessments will now be completed for each area of operation, and detailed information issued at each step as the government confirm 'go ahead'.

Please remember that all dates are indicative and subject to change. The government will make decisions based on the data available at each review stage, and once issued we will provide updates to what this means for Coniston Sailing Club.

As always, each of us should take personal responsibility for following the rules at each stage, and continuing to maintain 'hands, face and space' and therefore assisting in this planned safe return to normality.

We sincerely hope to see and meet all members soon.
